Embodying the chakras part 3 - Decisiveness, action and commitment

Oct 11, 2025

With this week’s cluster, we land at the third chakra… the home of action, will power and commitment. Physically, this connects below to the sacral region that we explored last week and above, it meets the diaphragm (the engine of breath).

Anatomically, we get to focus on all the abdominal muscles and the lumber spine. But activating your third chakra is not just about doing more sit ups! To function in life, we need an effective core that is flexible and strong so it can support good alignment in the vertical world (when sitting and standing).

In terms of elements, so far, we have journeyed from ground to water and we now get to fire!

Do you have enough ‘fire in the belly’ to see things through?

If you find yourself unable to complete tasks, projects (or Dojiva mini fitness classes), then you might be under-developed in this region.

The way to balanced power is not about taking without giving or giving without receiving or being dominant nor being easily dominated. You find a way of being strong, committed to your purpose and ready for action, yet also at any moment being able to yield, respond and be in flow.

It’s an area to let energy out, (e.g. using ‘chi’ voice from the depth of your diaphragm in martial arts or power-lifting) but also to be able to receive, be open and absorb energy from the outside world.

In competitive sports, but also regular exercise sessions, I want to see you committed from the start, to test your limits throughout and have something ‘in the tank’ for a good ending. I sum this up in two words… finish strong.

And that’s the goal for this week…
to develop a strong centre (third chakra) that has a full tank with extra spare!

”I’m worried about over-committing”

I hear you and full commitment in any aspect of life is not easy and does carry risks. But remember, you will always miss 100% of the chances you don’t take!

At some point in the past, you may have developed a fear… a safety zone or a self limitation that held you back and kept you safe. Times when you took the easy path which may have served you well and matched your needs for that moment.

Question is, “is that still true”?

Now, I’m not saying you should drop it all and push forward with reckless abandon, but this maybe an opportune time to reassess your commitment to an aspect of life and perhaps step things up and move to the next level.

When the third chakra is strong you can see a clear path from concept to completion and are able to move forward directly with a committed yet realistic focus.

Set the image, embody the journey and enjoy each step along the path!

During this week’s classes but also at any time in the day, I want you to consider and nurture an inner confidence that will help you gather energy, initiate action and complete whatever tasks come to hand. So why not visualise and believe you can - look out for and build on the yeses of your day!

Sometime I finish these Sunday write ups and class selection late on a Saturday evening and am scrambling to finish the computer work when I should be kicking back! This week, I was done and dusted by Wednesday (a record for me).

You can direct your focused attention on completing a small project, e.g. something around the house, garden or even your office desk that has been left incomplete. And tie up those lone ends so that you can enjoy extra time and space from being organised. In other words, get ahead of your schedule.

At the end other the scale this could of course mark the beginning of a bigger leap into the unknown. Why not sit quietly and ask yourself, “am I ready for a bold step in my life”? Relax and notice what arises!

Here’s a great saying:

“More is lost by indecision than wrong decision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity. It will steal you blind.”

In other words remaining indecisive costs more in missed opportunities than making a wrong choice. And that’s because you learn from mistakes and that leads to personal growth, wisdom, better adaptability and then you will be in good stead to take action.

One more thing about energy

To know a full tank, you have to know an empty one. And in the dynamic Dojiva sense that means stepping into the discomfort zone. So, towards the end of a set of strength or that final HIIT, can you give that little bit extra and get a taste of being empty? With a clean diet, good hydration, a good nights sleep and a positive mindset, you will then be re-fuelled for the coming day.

Here’s a few suggestions for a daily mantra:

”I am committed to complete…xyz”

“I have energy in reserve to take action and finish the job”

“I have the will to see this through”

”I charge my energy with decisiveness and action”

Or, choose words that fit for you.

That’s it for this week, thanks for reading.

Take care

Danny

Here are this weeks recommended cluster of Dojiva classes:

Sunday 12th Oct 2025 - Pranayama 03 - Breath of fire - Please enjoy this class from our series of pranayama practices. This one takes the basic movement and anatomy of diaphragmatic breathing yet adds a dynamic twist! In yoga we call this breath of fire and it involves a sharp exhale (up to three per second). The aim is to build up to three minutes, while remaining calm under any pressure that may arise.

And today - Pranayama 05 - To start this class, we listen to the subtlety of the breath to discover which is the current dominant nostril. This is something that switches naturally about every 90 minutes. Pranayama 05 then involves breathing through the right nostril which is for heat and energy. Later in the practice, you have the choice to up the energy even more by adding short batches of breath of fire.

Monday 13th - Workout 11 - This class is a good hybrid that intersperses 6 sets of strength training with 5 rounds of HIIT.

Tuesday 14th - Mobility 46 - A soothing class of all round flexibility. We start with spinal flexion (using the wall) then add subtle tone for hips and shoulders.

Wednesday 15th - Meditation 57 - Please join in with this 19 minute guided meditation with background music plus running creek/bird sounds.

Thursday 16th - Workout 57 - I love this class as it has all four of my movement disciplines; martial arts, fitness/conditioning, Pilates and yoga. You will need a wall/door for several of today’s exercises!

Friday 17th - Mobility 81 - A great whole body class with lots of standing exercises to enhance functional flexibility followed with spinal rolling on the mat.

Saturday 18th - Mini fitness 118 - Today's class is quite dynamic with lots of the intervals involving the legs and arms together. (8 powerful HIITs).
